Heal the Heart to Heal Dis-ease
By the time I was diagnosed with a cancer recurrence in 2015, I was running a health-based business (inspired by the original diagnosis), and ironically I was completely worn out.
I had done and was doing 'all the things'. I'd cleansed, fasted, replaced all of the toxic products in the laundry, kitchen and bathroom, and ate a predominately plant-based, organic diet.
But mentally and emotionally, I was off.
I was still deeply resentful about the way I had been railroaded into chemotherapy, medical menopause, and surgery in 2006 for the original diagnosis, without ever being properly informed about the ongoing, life-altering side-effects.
I was angry about the way I was treated when I later questioned these practices, as I slowly came out of the medication-fog.
I felt like I had been robbed of my prime years, missing out on opportunities and many of the milestones that people typically reach in their late 20s and 30s.
Plus I was still carrying the grief of the unexpected death of my best friend from eleven years earlier - two years prior to the original diagnosis.
But importantly, I felt resentful about so many things in life, and I had never mastered the art of forgiveness.
And yet I was completely aware of the harmful effects that emotional stress has on the physical body, and how it is almost always implicated in the development of cancer.
Emotional mastery and managing stress were the two aspects of healing that I had ignored in favour of diet and lifestyle changes.
But the truth is, you can have the cleanest diet, do your bi-annual detoxes, and drink cold-pressed vegetable juice in the sunshine on the daily, but ..... if you hold grudges, have regular toxic thoughts, or allow emotions such as sadness, jealousy, anger and resentment to consume you, it will have a physiological impact over time.
Fortunately, as I journeyed back to health, I was introduced to various techniques that help to heal the heart, one of which was Core Clearing Breathwork, a safe, gentle and fast way to relieve anxiety, stress and pain, balance energy, improve sleep, digestion, and immune function - and tap into the subconscious blocks that keep us stuck in life.
You see, after two cancer diagnoses spanning 18 years, there came a point later in my journey where I realised that true health is so much more than simply good nutrition, exercise and stress management.
These elements absolutely play a key role in recovery and healing the physical and mental body, but they do little to heal and nourish the emotional body and spirit.
Breathwork helps dissolve the emotional wounds and unresolved trauma from the past, that weighs you down in the present moment, that can manifest as stress, anxiety, and other physical symptoms, without talk therapy or psychoanalysis.
If you would like to experience this transformative practice, you can do so here.
