What 2025 Forced Me To See About My Own Nervous System

January 06, 20264 min read

Real talk. 2025 challenged me.

Despite my best efforts — and everything I know and teach about health — for much of the second half of the year, I felt… off.

Run down.
Living with low-grade but chronic stress.
And to top it off, eczema flares not just on my hand, but also on my face.
Argh.

If you’ve followed my health journey, you’ll know that when I had a cancer recurrence 10 years ago (after nine years in remission), this is exactly how it started:
tired, stressed, and with skin issues.

So I did what I always do.

I got out my ozone generator, and ramped up everything else I know helps —
a super clean diet, gut-healing and parasite protocols, fasting, movement, supplements.

Basically everything I routinely did anyway.

They’d work… for a while.
Then the flares would return.
And the cycle would continue.

It was exasperating.
And honestly, I felt miserable.

And here’s the kicker — the more miserable I became, the more intense the flares.

A vicious loop I couldn’t seem to break.

What’s interesting is that during this time, I spent three weeks abroad, living my best life.
I was doing the same things — same workload, same diet, same supplements, same movement —
but in a completely different environment.

Everyday I woke up feeling joyful, blessed and grateful. And do you know what happened?

Every single symptom started to resolve.
My skin cleared.
My energy lifted.
For six whole weeks.

Then, slowly… as I resumed home and work life, the cycle crept back in, as did the low grade stress and anxiety.

By the time December rolled around, I was done.
It was time to practice what I know — and what I teach.

Because here's the thing... My skin wasn’t flaring from a poor diet.
It wasn’t a lack of supplements
And it certainly wasn’t because I was toxic — Since my first cancer diagnosis, I've lived my life in a way that I don't need to 'detox' per se

The truth is…

I had been neglecting my Self.

Living with low-grade, but chronic stress.
And the worse my skin became, the harsher my inner dialogue grew —
despite everything I know about mental and emotional hygiene.

When I reflected on the time I spent away, the only dramatic change was my environment.
And with that came a shift in my mindset.

I felt lighter.
And — at the risk of sounding woo — my frequency changed.

And my body reflected it.

The problem is, like most people, indefinite holidays aren’t an option.
So I had to actively work on changing my internal state (what can I say? I'm a work in progress!)

Here’s what that’s looked like:

I started paying close attention to my thoughts — what I was telling myself about any given situation, and what I was unconsciously “broadcasting” to the world.
I began making joy a daily priority.
I committed to daily somatic work to regulate my nervous system.
I practised gratitude for the beautiful things already in my life.
And I had to take back control of my mind instead of letting it control me.

And I’m happy to say the redness and itchiness have been noticeably receding over the past four weeks.

I’ve had only one real flare since — and it coincided with two things:
not doing "the work' for a few days,
and the discovery (and subsequent remediation) of a mold issue in my home environment.

The lesson?

True health isn’t just biochemical.
It’s neurological.
It’s emotional.
It’s electrical.
It’s energetic.
It’s informational.
And yes… it’s vibrational.

Your body is not just a bag of chemicals — it’s a living communication network.

Every cell is constantly sending and receiving signals:
through your nervous system,
through hormones,
through electrical impulses,
through emotional memory,
through your immune system.

So when we talk about “vibration,” what we’re really talking about is the internal state your body is operating from.

Are you in survival…
or in safety?

Because your body needs to feel safe in order to heal.
It physically cannot heal when you’re in fear, overwhelm, chronic stress,
or when you’re carrying the belief that you are broken and beyond repair.

When people say “raise your vibration,” what they’re often experiencing is this shift:

out of contraction → into regulation
out of chaos → into coherence
out of survival → into repair

And when that happens, everything changes.

Digestion improves.
Immune function upregulates
Hormones begin to balance.
Sleep deepens.
Inflammation lowers.
Cells finally receive the message: it is safe to heal.

Hallelujah!

Hear me when I say this... emotional healing, nervous system regulation, stress reduction, and trauma work are not “extra.”

They are biological medicine.

This is vibrational medicine.
Not magic.
But the body returning to its natural rhythm.

And when the body returns to its rhythm…
it remembers how to heal.

If you’re ready to explore what it might look like to support your body at this deeper level — emotionally, neurologically, energetically — I’d love to continue the conversation with you.

No pressure.
Just possibility.
